Delta / RFID bag tag explorations

Small object.
Clear identity.

I designed several directions for a Delta-branded RFID bag tag and built them in 3D to help sell the idea.

The project

I explored what a Delta-branded RFID tag could look and feel like as a physical object.

My role

I created the design explorations and 3D renders used to present the options.

The approach

I showed the tags on luggage so we could judge the shape, finish, and raised or recessed marks in context.

Product design exploration / 3D visualization

One identity.
Several expressions.

I tried triangular, tapered, and faceted forms to see how much of the Delta widget the shape itself could carry.

Triangle / A direct relationship to the widget.
Tapered navy Delta tag on luggage
Tapered form / A longer silhouette.

Faceted form / Geometry and changing light.

Let the surface
carry the detail.

I compared raised and recessed marks, then tested lighter finishes against the same luggage.

Raised relief / Light catches the brand mark.
Light triangular Delta tag with recessed widget treatment
Recessed treatment / A quieter surface expression.
Pale triangular Delta bag tag rendered against black luggage
Light finish / Contrast against the suitcase.
Pale Delta bag tag with debossed logo variation
Debossed variation / A change in depth.

Show the object.
Sell the direction.

I used 3D because a flat graphic couldn’t show the thickness, the attachment, or how the tag would sit against a suitcase.

Another translation of travel into a physical design concept.
